Cobwebs and Cream Teas
Join us for a 60-minute exclusive ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour with one of our expert guides to gain a unique insight into the many secrets and spaces of Burton Constable Hall and explore the rooms where the servants lived and worked.
This tour takes you through different areas of Burton Constable Hall that are normally off limits to the public and include long corridors, derelict rooms, and steep spiral stairs to the servants’ quarters (55 steps) and the roof top (48 very steep steps). The flooring is also different depending on where you are in the building – some floors are wood, and others are well worn stone flags and may be uneven in places.
With a building as old as Burton Constable Hall conservation work is always in progress, and access to the roof top can be weather dependent, each tour may take a slightly different route.
** The tour involves steep spiral staircases up to the Servents Quarters (55 steps) and the roof top (48 very steep steps) and may not be suitable for visitors with health and mobility problems. Please wear sensible footwear.
The ticket also includes access to our Grounds & Stables from 10am, plus a self-guided walk round the Hall, followed by a delicious home made scone served with clotted cream, butter and jam and either tea or filter coffee served from the Stables Kitchen at 2.45pm.
The is also an option to upgrade to a full Afternoon Tea with delicious sweet and savoury treats.
